Cilacar T 20/40 mg Tablet – An Antihypertensive Medication DescriptionCilacar T is a combination of two antihypertensive drugs called cilnidipine and telmisartan. Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB), while telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). Cilacar T is recommended for the treatment of high blood pressure or hypertension. It is imperative to control high blood pressure to prevent life-threatening cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems. The drug works by relaxing and dilating the blood vessels so that blood flows more easily.
Action Mechanism Cilacar contains 20 mg cilnidipine and 40 mg telmisartan. Cilnidipine is a calcium antagonist, which means it inhibits the influx of calcium ions into the cells. This mechanism of action results in reduced vascular smooth muscle tone, dilating the blood vessels and leading to a reduction in high blood pressure. Telmisartan inhibits angiotensin II, a powerful vasopressor derived from angiotensin I. By doing so, telmisartan relaxes and dilates blood vessels so the blood can flow easily.
